Emmanuel Amponsah Adjei is a Research Scientist specializing in plant breeding and seed systems, with over a decade of experience at the CSIR-Savanna Agricultural Research Institute in Nyankpala-Tamale. Since April 2014, he has been dedicated to advancing agricultural research and development, focusing on breeding resilient and high-yielding crop varieties (roots and tubers) suited to the challenging conditions of the savanna regions.
Emmanuel is deeply involved in improving agrosystems, as well as the conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources, including neglected and underutilized crops. His work contributes to farmers’ livelihood needs by enhancing food security, nutrition, and promoting social and economic development. He emphasizes collaboration with local and international actors to ensure that these initiatives are grounded in the realities of the communities they serve.
In his role, Emmanuel has been instrumental in driving research initiatives that aim to improve food security and promote sustainable agriculture. He plays a critical role in mentoring young scientists and collaborating with international research organizations to enhance the impact of agricultural research in Ghana. Emmanuel’s dedication to his field has made him a respected figure in agricultural research, contributing significantly to the sustainable development of agriculture in Ghana and beyond.
He currently holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Breeding and Biotechnology from Makerere University.
